Carlstadt Public School
In the early 2000s, when the Carlstadt Elementary School was in its early design stage, less than 10 buildings in New Jersey were LEED certified. Having the foresight to design to these guidelines – the criteria that now more than 2,200 buildings in New Jersey meet – showed foresight for the longevity of sustainable buildings and the increased health and safety it provides its occupants. Carlstadt Elementary School was ultimately only the 26th building officially certified and was the first LEED Silver public school in New Jersey and the first LEED certified building in Bergen County.
As some of the first architects to embrace sustainable design, DMR brought the first LEED certified public school in New Jersey to life in 2007. Sustainable design features are implemented in our projects as a standard, regardless of a client's design to pursue LEED certification from the USGBC. Our staff includes LEED AP, Green Associate and BD+C certified professionals, and a portfolio of numerous certified facilities, with several more on the boards to receive certification within the next year.
